No More Poo!

No, I'm not talking about dirty diapers, I'm talking about not using shampoo anymore! In an effort to pursue more frugal and healthy living, I've run across LOTS of articles about the negative effects of shampoo on hair (and health!) Here is a link to a WONDERFUL article that explains all about going shampoo-less.

Go ahead and read it......I'll wait right here.......Seriously.

Tonight I mixed up a batch of hair cleanser and conditioner. Here's what you need for the recipe that I used:
A measuring cup, a teaspoon, baking soda, apple cider vinegar, honey, a rosemary spring, and two clean bottles (I used old shampoo bottles.)
Recipe for hair cleanser: Add one teaspoon of baking soda for each cup of warm water. Mix until solution is not grainy. Pour into your clean bottle. That's it!
When you use the product, pour a bit onto your wet head and massage into the scalp. Work your fingers down through the hair to the ends and rinse. It will be a bit unnerving at first not having a thick rich lather, but stick with it, your hair will thank you.

For the conditioning rinse, add two teaspoons of apple cider vinegar for each cup of cool water and pour into clean bottles. That is the basic recipe to which I added a teaspoon of honey and two sprigs of rosemary.
The (raw) honey will add shine and the rosemary will add luster and body (plus, it makes the rinse smell great!) Use this the same way you used the hair cleanser, but leave on the hair for a minute or two. And I know what you're thinking...your head will NOT smell like an easter egg! You cannot detect the vinegar smell at all!

Call me crazy, but I'm really excited about this! I can make months of hair care products for under five bucks, plus, it's better for us.

Come on! Try it for two weeks and see if your hair doesn't look and feel better!

Ok JoAnn, let us know how it goes! I wonder how that would work on colored hair. I have to have a super good conditioner because my hair is long and curly.
