The happy hooker

I cannot knit. I cannot crochet. Countless (and very patient) women have tried to instruct me but it does not compute. Ever. Several years ago I purchased a Knifty Knitter, I don't know what possessed me to do it. Maybe it was those childhood memories of weaving potholders on a loom...whatever, I wanted to make all those beautiful projects on the front of the packaging!

Now this I can do!

I was walking down the craft aisle at Walmart and saw a beautiful oatmeal colored yarn. It was rustic and organic and begging me to pick it up! I came home and dusted off the old Knifty Knitter (after I dug it out from the back of the closet!) and made Danny a little winter hat.

I can't sew for my boys, but this they'll wear!
Hey, I don't care that our winters here barely get below 68 degrees,
these boys are going to wear my knitted hats!

I'm impressed. That looks complicated. I've wanted to learn to knit; maybe I should get one of these! (oh yes, I need another project.lol)
Good job!

I heartily recommend looking at loom knitting patterns on the net or better yet buying a loom knitting book (Isela Phelps is the 'it girl' when it comes to loom knitting). You can do SO MUCH more than hats. There are quite a few stitches including knit, purl, ribs and cables and patterns to make sweaters, afghans, socks, scarves and more.

I'm in the process of knitting a Texas flag afghan. I'll do it in 6 panels and applique a felt star.

If I get motivated I may try and get some little crafts done before Christmas.

Oh I love that last picture! He's soooo cute, and so is the hat. I like that yarn, too.

I just love my looms! I found a sock pattern on the internet that I'm going to try next. If it works out, everyone is getting a hat, socks and scarf for Christmas!

I bought the knifty knitter at JoAnn's on sale. I'm giving it a try! I'll probably turn out a few things I can't show anyone before I make anything worth wearing.
